Version Info
Welcome to version 0.1 "Duct-Tape"! All critical bugs reported and a few minor ones have been fixed. This version is the quick fix while I finish the proper Post-Jam rework.
Any reported bugs, typos, issues or suggestions will be considered for a post-jam update, so feel free to let me know!
Useful Info
I realized I never properly communicated how to end the game. The game reaches an ending when suspicion is at 100. You get a cutscene depending on how much gold and reputation you have, for a possible of 4 cutscenes. Over 30k 10k (as of v0.1) gold and over 90 reputation gets you the best endings.
New in v0.1: you can now choose to end the game when you reach 10k gold to manually trigger the cutscene.
By popular demand: To gather ingredients press the R key, or click the on-screen bag icon. Using the mouse is fully supported, by the way. I love mouse controls.
There's a book in your room with some tips and explanations. Didn't have time for a proper tutorial, but should help. Remember, oil is good! Memorize those recipes! I swear I had no time for a proper recipe book, so pretend it's part of the challenge.
New in v0.1: A sort of 'cheat sheet' with the correct base/refiner combo. This is temporary while the new version (expected to have a recipe book) is in development.
I'm finally getting closer to an "as intended" build of Suspicion. Hopefully, this small patch will make this one playable for the meantime.

First patch is out, and the issues reported below have been corrected!
I’m still preparing the next version, aiming to overhaul the game quite a bit, so any feedback or issues you encounter in this new version, I’d be grateful if you could let me know!

Neat concept! the UI and stuff are very clean, I didn't manage to find broken bezel tech. I did manage to get the gathering "sack" icon to appear outside of the gathering phase - so I was able to harvest herbs a couple times while in the inn :D I also got robbed blind twice on the first day, I am not a discreet potion dealer XD nice job man
Wait, you mean inside the inn room, or in the world area? It was actually an earlier version that had no “town” area, so I guess I messed up the check somewhere.
Funny thing about the random events, they were supposed to be tied to Suspicion so you’d see them almost never at the start and much more frequently as you raise it, but I just realized they’re tied to reputation instead, so it’s a 50/50 at the start haha. Crime wave is real here.
If you want to share my pain about the bezel plugin, save when a bezel is active and then load it when you change maps. At least is only visual.

You got me thinking, I never really specified what was the end goal. I’ll add it to the description at least. The game decides an ending when suspicion reaches 100 and you go to bed, there’s 4 ending cutscenes that checks if you’ve got >30k gold and >90 reputation, or only >30k gold, another for only >80 reputation and a ‘none of the above’ one.

I played a bit, and I think I found a bug? Basically, when I go gathering at the evening timeslot, instead of ending the day after the 3rd time gathering, it just let me roam around some more. The text when I try to gather again just says "0", I can gather as many times as I want, but as there's no manual way to exit the map (?), I'm just stuck there and have to reload a save file and had to redo the whole day.
One other thing, which is probably just my luck, is I got the thug event 2 days in a row, in said evening timeslots, and took some ingredients, then my 5 potions. Both things happened on the 1st and 2nd day and it just dampens my experience... Ouch.
EDIT: Uh-oh. Yeah, it’s a bug! Evening gathering is broken, sorry! Thanks for the report, really useful info. The time system must have got de-sync at some point, I’ll have a look at the whole thing and make it more soundproof.
I probably should’ve added more events there, considering gathering would be a common option. The potion thing it’s good to know, how high was your Suspicion stat? You should only see 5 items gone on high levels of suspicion. The items are randomly chosen from your inventory too. I’ll take a closer look at difficulty there, it may be a bit harsh considering events get pretty frequent at later stages.
On high suspicion, you should try the more “aggressive” choice on dialogues, it gets more effective. Also: it may be worth just paying gold if you’re carrying valuable inventory!

It was only the 2nd day. I loaded the save file, and the suspicion stat was only 5 at the start of the day. I think I got an inspection event, but I always chose the first option. Didn't check what it was after the thug event. Also my inventory before the thug was only 6 potions and no ingredients.
I really enjoyed this, I don't know if there's a book of what you've made and what it does, I was guessing at combining the ingredients, but this was a lot of fun and well done, considering how much you can do, great work!
It was planned, but axed ultimately. It was certainly a big loss, I’ll definitely add it for a post-jam update. Recipes are fixed though, so if you manage to get any ‘oil’, you can get them again with the same ingredients. Those are the most expensive ones!
